Lines, Not Straight, Not Touching

2020 | 5 minutes
for solo cello

Program Note

'Lines, Not Straight, Not Touching' gets its title from the 1971 Sol LeWitt etching of the same name. On a cream-colored canvas, LeWitt places a cascading series of lines in four colors contained within a neat box. As you move closer to the etching, the seemingly chaotic image takes on a new character and each individual line reveals its intricacies. At close proximity, the space between the lines becomes more clear and the careful dance each line displays on the page can be admired.
